Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information about the resources and selected accomplishments of inspectors general at 18 federal departments and agencies.

GAO provided information for fiscal years 1992 through 1999 on reported: (1) actual obligations; (2) actual number of full-time equivalent staff; (3) questioned costs; (4) funds to be put to better use; (5) investigative recoveries; and (6) number of reports issued.
