Portion of Land-Lease Appropriations Available for Liquidation of Obligations Arising During the Active Land-Lease Period

This memorandum calls attention to a letter referencing the Second Deficiency Appropriation Act, 1948, wherein the sum of $25,000,000 out of existing lend-lease appropriations to the President was continued available for the liquidation of obligations arising during the active lend-lease period.
GAO found that the sum of $10,000,000 was allocated from this appropriation to the United States Maritime Commission and that a balance of approximately $5,000,000 remains. Based upon this information, the Comptroller General requested that all paperwork regarding the claim be returned to the United States Maritime Commission.
