Issues were addressed regarding Colorado's claim for interest on the government's $1-million share of a settlement between the United States, an oil company, and Colorado. It was determined that Colorado was entitled to the interest accruing from the judgment entry date through the date of the government's payment, since the: (1) language within the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 appears to waive the government's sovereign immunity with respect to interest; and (2) Department of Justice has decided that it will no longer oppose such interest assessments.
