The Pentagon's Dependence on Foreign Sources

This article, which appeared in the GAO Journal, No. 14, Winter 1991/92, discusses the Department of Defense's (DOD) weapons systems that contain foreign components and technology, focusing on: (1) the extent of DOD foreign dependence on foreign components; (2) DOD efforts to control foreign dependence; (3) reducing the risks associated with foreign suppliers; and (4) how the global market has increased foreign products.
