The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) requested a decision regarding an employee's claim for reimbursement for per diem expenses he incurred while performing temporary duty away from his permanent duty station where he was a full-time student under a BIA training program. GAO held that, since the claimant's training site was his permanent duty station, he was entitled to reimbursement for per diem expenses, even though he performed official duties at a location which would otherwise be his official station. Accordingly, the claim was remanded to BIA.
