We Really Must Reach Out: An Interview With Marian Wright Edelman

This article, which appeared in the GAO Journal, No. 10, Fall 1990, presents an interview with the president of a national advocacy organization for children, focusing on: (1) the federal government's responsibility to invest in the education, employment, and health needs of children and families; (2) the effects of federal programs serving children and their families; (3) the impact of the federal government's financial status on children's issues; and (4) the importance of early childhood education and preparation for living in a competitive world.
