Highlights

A Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) employee appealed the denial of her claim for a salary overpayments waiver, contending that: (1) she was unaware of the discrepancies in her grade classification; and (2) the terms of the repayment were too burdensome. GAO held that the claimant was at fault for failing to question the correctness of her quality step increases. Accordingly, the claim was denied, and GAO recommended that DLA work out a reasonable repayment schedule, taking into consideration the claimant's financial situation.
