Highlights

A civilian Air Force employee requested reconsideration of his denied claim for reimbursement for transportation expenses incident to a temporary duty assignment. The employee had contended that he should be reimbursed for vicinity mileage on his own vehicle because his supervisor unfairly denied him access to government transportation. The Air Force demonstrated that the employee chose to reside in an area which was not on the designated government transportation route. GAO denied the claim because the employee's travel orders did not authorize vicinity mileage and government transportation was available. In his request for reconsideration, the employee restated his allegation that the Air Force unjustly denied him government transportation. GAO held that the employee failed to present any new information or argument. Accordingly, the original decision was affirmed.
