In response to a congressional request, GAO commented on whether applicable laws and regulations were met in: (1) the involuntary retirement of an Economic Regulatory Administration (ERA) employee; and (2) the rehiring of the employee on a part-time basis. GAO held that the involuntary retirement and subsequent rehiring of the employee did not violate applicable laws and regulations.
