This article, which appeared in the GAO Review, Vol. 20, Issue 2, Spring 1985, discusses congressional comments on: (1) the Department of Defense dependent schools funding and operations; (2) establishment of a uniform single audit requirement for state and local governments that receive federal assistance; (3) geographical distribution of Customs Service personnel and their effectiveness in stopping drug smuggling and fraudulent imports; (4) payment of federal employee travel, transportation, and relocation costs; (5) cost-benefit analysis of day care benefits to government workers; and (6) a plan for management of technical data and computer capability improvements.
