GAO Remembers President Harry Truman

This article, which appeared in the GAO Review, Vol. 19, Issue 4, Fall 1984, discussed the great growth and change which GAO experienced during the Truman administration due to important legislation which was signed expanding its authority and responsibility. During the Truman administration, GAO was given the responsibility to audit government corporations, federal accounting systems were improved, and the construction of the present GAO building was authorized.
