Highlights

An attorney representing Army guards claimed overtime pay incident to their duties, although a considerable amount of time had elapsed since the claimed time period. The Army conceded the performance of authorized work activities outside of the normal 8-hour shifts. GAO held that, in view of recent court judgments concerning overtime compensation for that time period, the guards were entitled to 20 minutes of overtime for each working day claimed. Further, compensation was dependent on the availability of payroll records for the relevant time period. Accordingly, the claims were remanded to the Army for computation.
