[Request for VA Employee To Keep Bus Overnight]

The Veterans Administration (VA) requested a decision as to the propriety of one of its employees' keeping a passenger bus overnight to facilitate the transport of medical students to a VA facility. GAO held that statutory prohibitions on Government-provided, home-to-work travel did not apply to this case since the medical students were being transported for official purposes. Accordingly, GAO determined that it would be proper for the employee to keep the bus overnight.
