Proposed legislation, which appeared in the GAO Review, Vol. 17, Issue 2, Spring 1982, is discussed which would: (1) revise, codify, and enact legislation relating to money and finance; (2) create an administrative mechanism that would allow the affected agency to impose a monetary penalty for fraud; (3) improve management and eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the operations of the Department of Defense; (4) subject the Federal Reserve System to the annual congressional authorization and appropriation process; (5) accelerate the deregulation of the airline industry; and (6) improve the Federal program for bridge repair and replacement.
