Directory of State Audit Organizations

The fourth edition of the Directory of State Audit Organizations analyzes trend data during the period 1976-1980. It is intended to promote intergovernmental cooperation by aiding the interchange of information among audit groups. The directory contains summary information about State offices and agencies that perform postaudits. Among the organizations included are those of State examiners, legislative analysts, comptrollers, and State auditors. The groups perform examinations of government operations or programs on a Statewide basis and produce audit reports or program evaluations. The trend data in this directory point to substantial improvement in the extent of information reported by respondents during the past several years and indicate a wider acceptance of the GAO classification of audits.
