Reconsideration of Denial of Claim

Reconsideration was requested of a Claims Division's denial of a claim for payment for the cost of moving household goods. Payment for the cost of moving household goods from rental to purchased housing when an anticipated transfer was canceled was sought on the basis that the rental, anticipating a transfer, rather than purchase of a home was an attempt to create a savings for the Government. The employee was reimbursed for expenses of shipment of his household goods from a place of residence at his last official duty station to a place of residence at his new official station. Because a second move was not authorized, GAO affirmed the denial of the claim.
