Highlights

A cashier protested the reconsideration of a decision in which it was held that she was liable for the loss of $1000 in imprest funds in her custody. Although both the cashier and alternate cashier maintained that the safe from which the money was taken was locked, the record indicated that it was not properly secured at the time of the theft. Thus, the cashier was found to be negligent and liable for the money that was stolen. The cashier presented no new evidence with respect to the circumstances surrounding the theft, and GAO was unable to grant her any relief.
