Highlights

A foreign service employee requested reconsideration of his claim for reimbursement of certain expenses incurred in connection with his transfer from Laramie, Wyoming to Washington, D.C. The claim was enlarged to include certain expenses incident to transfer from Casablanca, Morocco to Laramie. Reimbursement for the use of two automobiles for transportation across the country for a family of seven was authorized. The previous decision to use the standard mileage guides to determine the approximate time required to travel the distance at 350 miles per day to compute the per diem allowance was sustained. Regarding the claim for temporary lodging allowances in Washington, D.C. as a foreign service employee, the claimant was entitled to allowances governed by the Foreign Service Act which authorizes transfer allowances for transfers from a foreign post to a post within the United States. Since the claimant was transferred from two points within the United States, he was not entitled to reimbursement.
