Claim for Temporary Quarters and Real Estate Expenses

An advance decision was requested regarding the claims of an employee for reimbursement for temporary quarters subsistence expenses and certain real estate expenses. The period for claiming temporary quarters at a new duty station may be interrupted only for periods of temporary duty. The employee may not be reimbursed for real estate expenses due to a delay in settlement of the purchase of a new home even if the delay was due in part to the performance of temporary duty.
