Request for Waiver of Salary Overpayment

Reconsideration was requested of denial of a waiver of the Government's claim against an employee for an erroneous overpayment. The request was considered in spite of the 3-year statutory limitation since it had been previously considered by GAO within the statutory period. However, the request was denied since the employee's inconsistent statements did not support the assertion that he had no knowledge of the overpayment at the time it occurred and, even if he did not have this knowledge, it was not against equity and good conscience to require the refund.
