Claim for Transportation of Household Effects

A decision was requested on the propriety of paying a claim for transportation charges for moving the household effects of an individual who was not at that time a Federal employee. Because the Government erroneously allowed relocation allowances, the claim for transportation costs can be paid to the carrier, but the individual must reimburse the Government.
