Liability of Unaccountable Officer Who Delayed Transmittal of Collections for Increased Interest Charges

The Administrator of the Farmers Home Administration requested an opinion on the liability of Mary Ann Wallace, an accountable officer, for additional interest charges payable by the agency as a result of her unwarranted delay in forwarding collections from borrowers to the proper office. The accountable officer was not liable for the interest that accrued during the delay since no actual loss of funds occurred.
