Temporary Quarters Subsistence Expenses

Ruth W. Oxley, an Authorized Certifying Officer with the Bureau of Reclamation, requested a decision regarding an employee's claim for temporary quarters subsistence expenses. The grocery costs were determined to be unreasonable in light of the number of the meals consumed away from home. Costs for dry cleaning incurred on the first day of occupancy could be reimbursed. Employee claims should be expedited by approving all properly allowable expenses on a voucher and disallowing only questionable items, the only issues that need to be submitted to GAO. (SW)
