Highlights

A decision was requested concerning the propriety of reimbursing an employee for moving and subsistence expenses while he occupied temporary quarters. The employee may not be reimbursed for subsistence expenses while occupying temporary quarters because he was not transferred to a new duty station. He may be reimbursed for the cost of shipping his household goods from storage to his destination of choice as long as the amount does not exceed the constructive cost of shipment from his overseas station to his official residence. Since the employee transferred to another agency, he should file a claim with the new agency for moving expenses.
