Highlights

A federal employee, who was separated due to a reduction in force while stationed in Okinawa and was reemployed by the U.S. Government within 1 year in Washington, D.C., requested reconsideration of the denial of his claim for reimbursement of real estate expenses and additional temporary quarters allowance incident to his relocation. The applicable statutes and regulations require that both the old and new duty stations be located in the United States or its territories or possessions in order to receive these allowances, and Okinawa was not a territory or possession of the United States. Therefore, the disallowance of the claim was sustained.
