Highlights

An Air Force member requested reconsideration of the disallowance of his claim for reimbursement of costs incurred in the transportation of dependents and for shipment of household goods upon retirement. Since the member transported his dependents and shipped his household goods at personal expense prior to issuance of retirement orders, he is not entitled to reimbursement for dependent travel or shipping costs. Even though the information received from transportation personnel was erroneous, the member may not be reimbursed because the United States is not liable for the negligent acts of its agents.
