GAO prepared case studies on light aircraft design weaknesses in conjunction with a report on the need for the Federal Aviation Administration to improve controls for identifying and correcting safety defects in light aircraft. The case studies illustrate that several models of light aircraft had experienced design weaknesses which affected flight safety.
