A senator requested an opinion on the possible removal of the prohibition against the use of commercial travel agents by the federal government. It was felt that removal of the prohibition was inappropriate, but a circular letter was issued to all of the heads of government agencies and departments which stated a willingness to lift the ban for individual agencies if they could adequately demonstrate that economies could be achieved.
