Comments on Use of Appropriated Funds To Pay for Luncheon

GAO commented on the Smaller War Plants Corporation request for reimbursement of the luncheon expenses of five Smaller War Plants Corporation employees at a meeting with other government employees. GAO held that the expenses were not essential as those present at the luncheon were all government employees and such a gathering did not clearly advance the public policy goals of the agencies participating. Accordingly, authorization to certify reimbursement for expenses was denied.
