Comments on Use of Appropriated Funds for Entry Fees [Best Available Copy]

Air Force requested an opinion concerning whether it was within the Air Force's authority to grant approval for payment of the National Rifle Association's (NRA) registration fees. GAO held that since the Air Force personnel were authorized to attend NRA's rifle and pistol competitions, the registration fees would be regarded as a necessary expense and would be chargeable to the Department of Defense's appropriation.
