GAO Again Named One of the "Best Places to Work"

Washington, D.C. (December 6, 2017) - The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) improved its scores in the Partnership for Public Service's list of the best places to work in the federal government, again claiming second place among mid-size agencies.  GAO increased 2.8 points from last year to achieve a total score of 82.5 points, the highest since it began participating and exceeding the private sector average for employee satisfaction.  In addition, the congressional watchdog agency was again number one in the mid-size agency category for its support of diversity, with agency scores going up for the third year in a row in this category.

Our ranking also demonstrates GAO's dedication to employee engagement and an inclusive work environment for all employees," said Gene L. Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States and head of the GAO.

Issued every year, the Partnership's rankings provide insights into how federal employees view their jobs and offices.  GAO has consistently placed among the top five overall since 2005; it tied for number two in 2016. The 2017 ratings reflect the perspectives of 498,000 federal workers at more than 200 organizations based on survey responses on various workplace issues.
