Disaster Management & Assistance Program

The following reports represent GAO's examination of disaster assistance efforts domestically and overseas. GAO's efforts include recommendations to the Department of State to provide updated project cost estimates, obtained from USAID, to the Congress following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and, following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, recommendations to the Department of Homeland Security to strengthen a variety of capabilities, including response coordination and procurement practices.
